- Brief Description
Harald Mischak received his PhD from the Technical University of Vienna, Austria, in 1986. After postdoctoral work at the University of Vienna, he worked as Schroedinger and Fogarty Fellow at the NIH, USA. He continued as Group Leader at the GSF, Munich, Germany from 1993-1998. After one year at the NIDDK, NIH, he took up a position at the Medical School of Hannover in 1999. Here he founded Mosaiques diagnostics in 2002. Mosaiques is currently the only institution worldwide that can reproducibly analyze hundreds of urine or plasma samples with mass spectrometry in a short time, and has a unique and proprietary database of proteins and peptides in human body fluids from over 5000 participants. Mosaiques also has ample experience in collection and evaluation of clinical data. The informatics department of mosaiques is experienced in the evaluation of multidimensional datasets. Harald Mischak is a leading specialist in clinical proteome and CE-MS analysis, one of the best suited technologies available to identify disease-specific polypeptide biomarkers in body fluids. He has published more than 150 papers in leading journals and has also led a consortium that defined standards for clinical proteome analysis. Current research activities include: development of software to analyze multidimensional data; identification of urinary biomarkers for renal and urogenital diseases; sequencing of peptide biomarkers and establishment of proteome maps of human body fluids.
