Brief Description

Associate Professor at the University of Milano-Bicocca in the Depart. of Experimental Medicine. My research activities are focussed on kidney diseases using mass spectrometry based proteomics approaches to look for new biomarkers and therapeutic targets. I am a principal investigator of one unit of the Italian Human Proteome Net (IHPNet). I have long been active in the study of the normal renal proteome and in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). I have refined the first 2DE map of the renal proteome. Relevant studies in this field led to the identification of some differentially expressed proteins in RCC, and to the definition of post-translational modifications of some protein isoforms. I have also developed research on possible biomarkers in biological fluids by ClinProt technology. Recently my attention has been focused also on the proteome of biological fluids of nephropathic diabetic patients.
